Yusuf

May 6, 2008 / by BrianneOliphant

The Yusuf Islam/ Cat Stevens web page has got to be one of the coolest interactive web pages I have ever chanced up on. First I explored all the links in the room checking out what each little artifact had to offer. The tea cup was home, the paper was the news, the record player the audio, the TV the video and there was even Mr., HO HO’s facts.   Yusuf begins the facts by describing the allegations against him since he became a Muslim. Then he discussed his exit from music, and his entry into the Muslim world. It then began to discuss interesting facts about Yusuf like whether or not he had an arranged marriage. Though many of the answers were not direct and lead the web site adventurer still wonder if he had in deed had an arranged marriage or not, Mr. HO HO’s facts was still very interesting and entertaining. Many of the questions and answers were trailed with anecdotal quotes and lyrics.  The biography like wise discussed a lot about Cat Stevens, and his exit of the music scene and his entrance into the Muslim religion.  His brush with TB was what led him to turn to the Muslim religion. He eventually turned back to music to communicate the changes in his life and their importance.  The audio played songs from his old Cat Stevens albums such as “I never Wanted to be a Star” and “Remember the days of old” and then also the songs from his album as Yusuf such as  “Heaven” and “Midday”. The videos were very interesting as well. Two were interviews; one was a television performance, called Granny.  Another was his song Heaven, and Father –Son performance and another was his performance at the Nobel Prize peace concert.

Overall this website was very interesting and very insightful on what a thoughtful and deep artist Yusuf is and the strong tie the Muslim religion he has. It gives a lot of detail and is very insightful. I was easily entertained, and I learned a  lot about Cat Stevens and his transformation into Yusuf.  I enjoyed this website very much.
